Reconverted Flintlock North West Trade Fusil by Richard Wilson

.60 caliber smoothbore. 47.75″ three stage pinned octagon to round barrel. SN: NSN. Browned finish, brass furniture, full-length hardwood stock. Single shot muzzleloading flintlock trade gun. Reconverted flint lock is of commercial style and unmarked. Upper left flat of barrel marked with pre-1813 London commercial proof marks and the */RW maker’s mark of Richard Wilson (I). Likely mid-to-late 18th century production. The form of the stock is slender with an attractive and graceful French butt with pronounced rail at the wrist in imitation of the French Fusil de Chasse. Includes a contemporary brass tipped wooden ramrod. Simple and unadorned brass furniture include the geometric side plate, buttplate, triggerguard, oval wrist escutcheon and four plain ramrod pipes. Richard Wilson (I) worked circa 1725 to 1766.
